I’m finally satisfied with my decisions for gift giving this year. I know what I want for myself (yes, I treat myself too) and I know what I want to give everyone else. Have you crossed off your list yet? Are you still looking for ideas?
Here are the 7 Last Minute Gift Ideas you can buy and give today…
1. iFly Indoor Skydiving
Gift giving is no longer about stuff, but it’s about experiences today. Sure, people still have lists filled with material items, but we also have Bucket Lists to remind us of all the amazing things we want to do in life. That’s what makes iFly Indoor Skydiving one of my favorite gifts to give this year.
iFly is an unforgettable indoor skydiving experience that can be enjoyed by anyone from 3 to 103 years old. Flight School is available for in-depth training for ages 4-16, where kids will learn:
- Safety procedures
- Proper use of flight gear
- Mastery of a progressive series of flying skills
I took my family to iFly Loudoun and we had the time of our lives learning to fly together!
iFly Gift cards can be purchased online and memories can be made as early as today. No experience necessary…and no household storage space for more gifts is needed either.
2. TinkerCrate Subscription
I keep seeing an ad for this product pop up whenever I’m searching the Internet. I click on it every time, because it looks impressive and I go through all the reasons this is a great gift for kids. Basically, TinkerCrate (created by KiwiCo) is a subscription box that sends kids a new toy to put together every month. The crates are designed to encourage interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) and are available for ages 0 to 16+. The reviews are great and you’ll never hear there is nothing to do again. Plus it’s educational. It’s the perfect gift.
There is nothing like tucking something so small, yet so big, under the tree. The opportunity to see the world and experience new places together is something every family needs and deserves. Instead of adding more material items to the home, you can add memories of vacationing together. There are so many places you can go, near and far. The options are endless.
- Adventures by Disney
- Royal Caribbean Cruises
- Atlantis, Paradise Island – Bahamas
- Polynesian Cultural Center – Oahu
- Tikal – Guatemala
4. Food Subscription Boxes
There is no explanation needed for these great gifts. They are delicious and exciting to open every month. With so many to choose from, you can find the perfect box for anyone on your list.
5. Ancestry (Subscription and DNA Kit)
I lucked up when I attended a conference in the summer of 2016. I met with a representative from Ancestry.com and I had no idea how it would impact my life. I was given two of the greatest gifts I have ever received and now I recommend them for everyone.
I started with an Ancestry Subscription where I was able to build my family tree and explore information and relationships between family members on their website. For the first time ever I uncovered pieces of my family’s history that were unknown not only to me, but to other family members as well (the rabbit hole goes deep). I was able to trace my Great-Great-Great Grandfather to Calvary service in the Civil War, which led me to experience the African American Civil War Museum in Washington, D.C. Seeing his name listed on the Memorial Wall and sharing the experience with my children was a very proud moment.
That was just the beginning of my journey to find out more about who I come from. The next part of my journey is the Ancestry DNA Kit, which will tell me where I come from.
Recently, I was asked why I would do an Ancestry DNA test and the answer was simple. As an African-American person in this country with ancestors possibly enslaved here at some point, it may be impossible to trace my family line to when they came America (as some folks have the privilege of doing). Disgracefully, Africans were brought here in chains, separated from family, and sold many times. Today, we can be connected to our original origins through DNA testing. We can also be connected with other family members who share my our DNA.
Perhaps, your family doesn’t have complete records of your ancestors, or maybe there was an adoption and there are no records. Consider yourself blessed. You can still find information you are looking for. If your family has keep very detailed records, but you want to fact check them (I highly recommend this because…lies), consider yourself blessed, because you can do that too.
Ancestry is the gift of family history that will keep on giving.
Groupon is one of my absolute favorite deal sites. It’s filled with so many great gift ideas from products and local services, to entertainment tickets and vacation getaways. The fact that you can purchase a great gift online today to give right away is awesome.
Here are a few of my current faves:
- Put Me in a Story Personalized Children’s Books
- Airplane Flying Lessons
- Elf the Musical on Broadway in NYC
7. Amazon Prime Membership
As a mom of three, I realize going into the store is overrated. I used to hear moms talking about getting everything delivered back when I only had one child and I thought that sounded crazy. Now, trekking out into the cold and trying to keep shoes and socks on my toddler while making sure my girls have neither scampered away to the jewelry or electronics department nor added 50 things to my cart sounds crazy. And by crazy I mean absolutely chaotic. I’ll pass…whenever I can.
Sure I still go to the store, but I can’t lie, our baby wipes and kitty litter have not been carried for a few years now. The gift of Amazon Prime membership is one of the best yet. Amazon sells everything you need and will deliver your purchases wherever you are. I’m talking flip flops to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort when you need a different size. Spoiled much?!
Visits to several stores in one day can take forever. I love that Amazon has it all in one place and it will either arrive on the same day or within two days with Prime service. Streaming free movies and music is nice too. Give someone their time (and sanity) back.
Give Amazon Prime to yourself even…
And have a very Merry Christmas!
